Common Questions and Answers Q: Why does Tie the Knot have their gowns in a stockroom rather than on the selling floor? A: Tie the Knot prides itself in being a true boutique meaning we service our brides by working one on one with them (via an appointment) to privately view our collection of wedding gowns. Not only does this make the bride feel special (who wouldn’t want to be waited on), but it also provides a thorough exposure to all types of gowns. We can’t say enough how many times brides, after choosing “the one”, say I would never have selected this for myself. Q. How long is a first bridal appointment? A: It depends on the bride. Some people can make quick decisions; other cannot. On average we spend about 1.5 to 2 hours with a bride on her first visit to our store. Q: What should I bring to the appointment? A: If you own a strapless bra that may be helpful to bring along. However, we provide a full-strapless slip to try on the gowns. It is not necessary to bring any special undergarments. We even have a changing screen in our bridal rooms for those modest clients! Q: If you’re “by appointment” , your gowns must be super expensive? A: That may seem so, but we believe we have a bridal gown for every budget. Our bridal gowns are priced at $900.00 and up. We also have an extensive collection of sample gowns we sell “off the rack”, which are in some cases 50% to 70% off the regular, retail price. Q: When is a good time to order a wedding gown? A: We always say, when you know you found your dress, it’s time to order it! Your wedding can be 3 months or 18 months away. By ordering your wedding gown you are able to focus on other planning in your wedding such as bridesmaid dresses, color schemes, groom/groomsmen, accessories, flowers, linens, invitations, etc. Purchasing your wedding gown is exciting, provides relief and allows you to check off a major task on your “to do” list. Q: What if I plan to lose weight? How will that impact my gown order? A: We measure you as you are the day you purchase the wedding gown. We determine your “wedding gown size” (which is quite different to your regular clothing size) and order it accordingly. Most brides change their size by the time their wedding gown arrives. To remedy this, all wedding gowns are made with the intention of alterations. Therefore, the gown will be altered to the size you are 4 -6 weeks before your wedding. Q: How long does is take for a wedding gown to arrive? A: This in one of the most common questions we are asked. We cannot quote an exact time your wedding gown will arrive. Upon the order with the designer, they give us an estimated time of arrival which varies with different designers. Some designers use imported fabrics and beading that can take some time to acquire. We constantly monitor our orders and can check on the status of an order at any time with the appropriate designer. Q: If I purchase my wedding gown at Tie the Knot, will I get a discount for a purchase of bridesmaid dresses. A: Yes, you will get a discount of $35.00 per dress. In addition, if you have an order of 6 or more bridesmaids, we will give you one dress free or 10% off each dress. Q: Do you provide prep services for the gown before I take it for my wedding? A: Yes, after your final fitting we arrange your wedding gown pick up date. Upon pick up you can expect the gown/veil to be meticulously pressed and prepared for you to wear on your wedding day. Q: If I purchase my wedding gown at Tie the Knot, can I get some help with planning other aspects of my wedding? A: Although we are not wedding planners, we can be a great resource for local vendors in the area. We also offer our expertise with regard to wedding colors, general etiquette questions or maybe just a friendly face to lend an ear.
